Michael von Rumänien war i. J. 2002 aus dem Schweizer Exil nach Rumänien zurückgekehrt und hatte zwei Jahre lang eine Kampagne für den NATO-Beitritt Rumäniens betrieben, der im Jahre 2004 auch schließlich vollzogen wurde.
