To a curator of the Exposition de Bordeaux, probably the academic painter and art critic Charles-Olivier Merson, informing him that the paintings that the recipient saw in the gallery of Georges Petit are unfortunately no longer available and announcing two new paintings for the exhibition: "Je viens répondre à votre dernière et aimable lettre. Malheureusement, il ne m'est pas possible de vous donner les tableaux que vous avez vu chez Petit, ils ne sont plus à moi et je dois les livrer [...]. Je vous ai préparé deux toiles qui sont chez moi et que vous serez bien aimable de faire prendre quand vous voudrez. J'espère que l'on en sera content à Bordeaux [...]".
