Charming letter to Paul Thureau-Dangin, declining an invitation due to health concerns. Brunetière had to "impose the law of not going out in the evening" on himself, "until a 15-day stay in the land of the sun" will have re-established his health: "Dura Lex ! Hélas, oui, cher confrère et ami, je m'impose la loi de ne pas sortir le soir jusqu'à ce qu'un séjour d'une quinzaine au pays du soleil ait tout à fait achevé de me remettre ! Je continue bien d'aller, mais ce n'est pas la même chose qu'aller bien, et je suis obligé de prendre des précautions qui ne me sont jamais très importunés que quand elles me privent un plaisir comme celui que vous m'offrez pour dimanche prochain. Et, encore, ce jour-là, [...] au cercle de Montparnasse. [...]" - Dated to 1901 according to old collector's or recipient's mark in crayon. Well preserved.
