The smaller fragment is from a letter to the playwright and fellow proponent of Saint-Simonianism Charles Duveyrier (1803-66) that also mentions the journalist and Saint-Simonian philosopher Charles Lemonnier (1806-91): "quand je dis pour vous, vous comprenez que cela embrasse Lemonnier à qui je pense beaucoup, et même l'individu social Lemonnier. Entre vous trois il doit y avoir peu de secrets".

Chevalier published the Saint-Simonian newspaper "Le Globe" from 1830 until its suppression in 1832. In the 1832 trial against the alleged Saint-Simonian-sect with Prosper Enfantin as the main defendant, Chevalier, Duveyrier, and Lemonnier were convicted and received prison sentences of up to a year and fines.
