Charming letter to his young protégé André-Ferdinand Hérold, inviting him to one of his famous tuesday soirées: "Dites si ce n'est pas bien exigeant de vous demander de reprendre demain soir Mardi le chemin de la rue de Rome, parce que je voudrais prendre votre avis sur un rien tout en causant".

André-Ferdinand Hérold (1865-1940), grandson of the composer Ferdinand Hérold, had introduced himself to Mallarmé with his first publication "L'Exil de Harini" in 1888. The master took a liking in the young poet and Hérold would become one of his regular guests, alongside important artists such as Verlaine, Gide, Louÿs, Régnier, Whistler. In 1937, he was among the founding members of the Académie Mallarmé.

Traces of folds. With minor tears to the upper margin.
