Gracq, Julien, French writer (1910-2007). Autograph lettercard signed "Julien Gracq".

Beautiful and interesting letter to Anne Desclos, here addressed under her pen name Dominique Aury, in her function as general secretary of the Nouvelle Revue Française, declining to fill out a questionnaire on linguistics, sociology, and psychoanalysis for the journal, due to a lack of knowledge in the areas. Gracq adds that he appreciates the questionnaire for "unsettling" him and making him aware of his "terrible knowledge gaps", which is "a good subject of reflection during the holidays". In closing, he thanks her for her personal news and expresses his hope to meet in September.

Anne Desclos is best known under her second pen name Pauline Réage as the author of the scandalous erotic novel Histoire d'O. The NRF was directed by Desclos's long-time partner Jean Paulhan from 1953 until his death in 1968.

Well preserved.
