First edition. An uncut copy in original pictorial boards of the first book published under Alken's name. He mentions his "habit of riding young and violent horses with fox-hounds", and of having a mare which caused him "four or five falls a day upon an average, and all in consequence of her violent bucking leaps." - Provenance: Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester (bookplate).
