Rare offprint from the "Journal Asiatique", 1858, no. 10: Reinaud's account of the growing Arabic literary production among Syrian Christians, and the newly founded Lebanese periodical "Hadiqat al-Akhbar", Beirut's first bi-weekly newspaper. Numerous passages printed in Arabic, quoting from the works of Khalil-al-Khouri and others.

Some foxing throughout, small tear to corner of upper cover; old ownership (dated 1872).
