To a "cher ami", written in his usual turquoise ink, concerning a Sundy Lunch. Monet also notes that his glasses or lenses have to be changed urgently, asks his friend a favour to bring brushes and explains that he can work well with the new colours: "C'est entendu pour dimanche dejeuner. J'ai si vrai besoins de changement de verres. Cela dit, si vous pouvez m'apporter les brosses. ca me fera plaisir. Pour les couleurs ca va très bien avec le nouveau Guichardin [?] à dimanche [...]".

Monet was losing his sight at this time and attempting to complete his water lilies series.
