To an unidentified recipient about the possibility to visit the composer. Saint-Saëns suggests a time but asks the recipient only to come if there is no representation of his opera "Phryné" at the "Opéra Comique" that night: "J'ai passé la journée d'hier à la campagne, cela a suffi pour que je ne reçusse votre lettre que ce matin.

Saint-Saëns' eight opera "Phryné" premiered on May 24, 1893 to ciritcal acclaim at the "Opéra Comique" and was successfully performed there during serveral months. The also mentioned "Falstaff" had premiered one month earlier at the "Opéra Comique". Therefore, the letter can be dated to the year 1893 with high certainty. A success during Saint-Saëns lifetime, "Phryné" has since disappeared from the repertoires.

Folded.
