First edition.

Including both parts in one volume, this edition is not to be confused with the two-volume edition of the same year, supposedly printed in the Netherlands. A popular work by the French historian Varillas (1624-96), whose historical method was severely criticized by his contemporaries, discussing several prominent figures of Protestant Reformation from a Catholic point of view. Also issued under the title "L'histoire du Wiclefianisme".

First third somewhat wormed (slight loss of a few letters). With 18th c. bookplate from the convent of Maria Jeutendorf in Lower Austria and their handwritten ownership to title. Latterly in the library of the Viennese collector Werner Habel, with his signed ownership, dated 1999, to the flyleaf.
