A merchant's manual by the German mathematician Nelkenbrecher (d. 1760), first published in 1762, providing information on weights and measures of trading towns all over the world, including European places as well as cities in Persia, India, Syria, Latin America and the USA. The text includes tables listing different currencies and the rates of gold and silver coins, as well as various units of weight and measurement. The last few pages offer instructions on calculating the value of gold and silver for Berlin, Hamburg, London, Amsterdam, Paris and Spain in general.
With contemporary handwritten ownerships by the Berlin silk manufacturer F. S. C. Lehnerdt to the title-page and page 284, his stamp of ownership to pages 393 and 415. Variously browned, large stain to the bottom of the title-page. From the library of the Viennese collector Werner Habel, with his signed and stamped ownership, dated 1976 to front pastedown.
