An den Präsidenten von Chile über die Abberufung eines außerordentlichen chilenischen Botschafters vom englischen Hof, den der König während dessen Amtszeit sehr geschätzt hatte: "To the President of the Republic of Chile, Sendeth Greeting! Our Good Friend! We have received from the hands of Senor Don Octavio Senoret the Letter which You addressed to Us on the 4th day of May last and in which You acquaint Us of the termination of the Mission of Senor Don Agustin Edwards [i. e. Agustín Edwards Mac-Clure] as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary at Our Court. We think it due to Senor Edwards to assure You that his language and conduct throughout his residence at Our Court have been such as to merit Our entire apporobation and esteem, and have been uniformly and zealously directed to the maintenance and improvement of the relations of friendship which happily subsist between Our Realm and the Republic of Chile, and to which We attach the highest value [...]".
