Outlining the countries' history and recommending places to visit, it is illustrated with views of Beirut, Tripolis, Aleppo, Nazareth, and Cairo, as well as important landmarks, including the Great Mosque of Damascus, temples at Baalbek, Palmyra, the Sphinx and the pyramids, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Wailing Wall.
