To an unidentified recipient, indicating dates for a possible meeting: "Je suis bien contrarié de n'avoir pas été chez moi lorsque vous y étez venu; mes occupations me forcent à m'absenter une grande partie de la journée, mais si vous désirez me parler vous me trouverez demain lundi avant neuf heures, ou à cinq heures du soir. j'aurai beaucoup de plaisir, Monsieur, si je puis vous être agréable dans cette circonstance [...]".

Henri Valentino served as co-conductor of the Paris Opera from 1824 to 1832 and as first conductor of the Opéra-Comique from 1832 to 1839. Among his most important premieres were the two first grand operas "La muette de Portici" by Daniel François Esprit Auber in 1828 and Rossini's "Guillaume Tell" in 1829, as well as Hector Berlioz's "Messe solennelle".
