An artist of Neo-Baroque style, Brunow studied at the Prussian Academy of Art, assisted the sculptors Rudolf Siemering and Christan Genschow in 1871 and 1873, and won a medal at the 1876 Centennial International Exhibition in Philadelphia.
Traces of a postmark. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
