Working as an independent sculptor from 1895, Dammann exhibited annually at the "Große Berliner Kunstausstellung" until 1913, his oeuvre comprising more than 130 funerary monuments, including full-scale tombs at the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Cemetery in Charlottenburg and the Wilmersdorf cemetery, as well as fountains and war memorials.
Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
