Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Gern erfülle ich Ihren Wunsch und zeichne als Ihr ganz ergebener [...]".

A member of the artists' colony in Kronberg im Taunus and co-founder of the Berlin Secession, Franck moved to Wannsee in 1906, a scenery that inspired many of his landscape paintings, and was appointed director of the Royal School of Art in Berlin in 1915.

Small ink spots near upper margin. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
