Oblong 8vo (postcard). 1 page.

 180,00

Following his teacher Julius Cäsar Thaeter to Munich in 1849, Friedrich created illustrations for Ernst Förster's "Denkmale deutscher Baukunst" (1853-69) before returning to Dresden in 1855, where he created etchings of masterpieces by artists including Rembrandt and Ludwig Richter, as well as drawings and watercolours inspired by Saxony and his study trips to Italy and the Alps.

Faint traces of a postmark. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
