Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Ueber ein halbes Jahr bin ich leider krank gewesen, während welcher Zeit ich zuerst in Freiburg i/Br später in Heidelberg war. Vor einiger Zeit bin ich wieder nach Hause gekommen u. erfülle nun Ihren Wunsch, meinen Namenszug zu besitzen [...]".

A co-founder of the artists' colony Gutach, Hasemann specialized in peasant motifs and strongly influenced the public image of the Schwarzwald, his works reaching a large audience through reproductions in magazines and on postcards.

Traces of a postmark. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
