Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau.

An illustrator working in Berlin for several magazines including "Jugend" and "Simplicissimus", Heilemann specialized in depicting costal resorts on the Baltic Sea as well as scenes of sophisticated metropolitan life, documenting glittering feasts celebrated in the capital at the turn of the century.

Traces of a horizontal fold; small brown stain. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
