An impressionist painter working in Germany, Hungary, France and the Netherlands, Kardorff taught at the Breslau Academy from 1920. His oeuvre mainly comprises portraits, but he also created landscape paintings, flower still lifes and street views of Berlin.

Traces of one angular and one horizontal fold. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
