A landscape painter of the Düsseldorf School and a member of the artists' association "Malkasten" since 1888, Liesegang repeatedly painted the Lower Rhine region as well as industrial city views in large formats, his style showing naturalist as well as impressionist tendencies.

Some smudged ink spots. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
