Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Mit freundlichem Gruß! [...]".
Specializing in atmospheric landscapes with figural staffage, Raupp was particularly inspired by the Chiemsee area, founded an artists' colony on Fraueninsel, and frequently painted local fishermen and peasants, which earned him the byname "Chiemsee-Raupp".
Traces of an angular fold near right margin; a few small ink spots. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
