Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau.

Appointed artistic director of the Nymphenburg Porcelain Factory in Munich at the age of 26, Wackerle participated in the art competitions of the 1928 and 1932 Summer Olympics and is best known for his fountain sculptures. His oeuvre includes several commissions by Nazi leaders, including a fountain for Martin Bormann's Munich mansion.

Postmark on verso slightly bleeding to recto; some small ink spots. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
