Alexandra Feodorovna (Alix of Hesse), Empress consort of Russia (1872-1918). Autograph lettercard signed with her initial ("A").

No place, [ca. 1912].

12mo. 2 pp. In blue indelible pencil.

Probably to Princess Marie Bariatinskiy, one of the Tsarina's few friends during her early years in Russia: "Please kindly compose answers to these two telegrams for me to sign. Do let Mlle. O. or Sonia [Orbeliani] try to write them with your help, as later I shall have to ask them, & and they will find it difficult. Best love [...]".

Slight traces of former mounting on verso. Written on both sides of her attractive stationery featuring her name in Russian beneath an embossed crown printed in silver. According to documentary sources, much of Alexandra Feodorovna's personal correspondence was destroyed, and only rarely do any of her unpublished letters come to light (we are obliged to Elizabeth Jane Timms for additional information).
