To the editor of the journal "Le Pilote", correcting an article that had suggested Morillo had received a state pension of 2,000 francs, an allegation which Morillo absolutely rejects, claiming never to have asked for nor received any such payment either from the French or from any other government, and requests that his communication be published as a letter to the editor: "Je lis dans le Pilote du 7 février que le Général Morillo vient d'obtenir du gouvernement français un pension du Deux mille francs. Le Général Morillo n'a jamais demandé, obtenu ni reçu aucune pension on faveur ni du gouvernement français ni d'aucun autre gouvernement [...]".
