Beautiful letters to her friend, the publisher Maurice Delamain, that appear originally to have accompanied larger shipments. In the dated letter, Marquet also sends greetings to Delamain's business associate, the novelist Jacques Chardonne: "Voilà, cher grand Ami - J'espère que c'est cela que vous vouliez... Quelle foie en perspective !... et nous en avons si peu... Je vous embrasse, ainsi que Chardonne, avec mon cœur".
Following the Liberation of France, both Mary Marquet and Jacques Chardonne were arrested on suspicion of collaboration, undisputed in the case of Chardonne. While Marquet was soon released for lack of evidence and continued her acting career, Chardonne spent several months in prison and his books were prohibited from sale in France for several years. His reputation was permanently damaged.
The undated letter on stationery with Marquet's address and the signet of the Comédie-Française. The dated letter stamped by Librairies Stock. With a minor tear and stains.
