To the publisher Maurice Delamain at Librairie Stock, expressing his joy that his "youthful folly" has enjoyed a "little career across the Rhine" (that is to say, in Germany): "Agréablement surpris de constater que son 'péché de jeunesse' poursuit une petite carrière outre-Rhin [...]". Stock had published the collection of short stories "Amours au Vallespir" in 1945, several of which were later translated into German, including "Karamel: eine Geschichte aus dem Vallespir" (1961).
