Only edition, rare. A critical edition and translation of the famous and influential 13th century ode "Al-Burda" (also known as "Luminous Stars in Praise of the Best of Mankind"), a religious poem in praise of the Prophet Muhammad written by the Egyptian poet al-Busiri. In Arabic with a metrical Persian and Turkish translation, as well as a German translation and annotations prepared by the orientalist C. A. Ralfs (1832-59). With a foreword by Walter Behrnauer (1827-90), a German orientalist and librarian at the Vienna court library.

Wrappers somewhat soiled and a little spotty; spine rubbed; interior occasionally lightly spotty. Uncut copy. Only 5 copies traced in libraries worldwide (British Library, Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Leipzig and Heidelberg University Libraries, and Zentralbibliothek Zurich).
