Beautiful quotation of 5 bars from d'Indy's piano sonata in E minor, op. 63, addressed to the young pianist Linette Chalupt (1892-1918).

Linette Chalupt was the younger sister of the poet and critic René Chalupt. Several pieces were dedicated to the pianist, most importantly Erik Satie's valse "Son binocle" from his "Valses distinguées du précieux dégoûté" in 1914.

Vincent d'Indy is best remembered as an important and innovative teacher at the Paris Conservatory and co-founder of the Schola Cantorum de Paris. His students included Albéric Magnard, Albert Roussel, Arthur Honegger, Darius Milhaud, and Erik Satie as well as Cole Porter.

Well preserved.
