A Coptic Orthodox manuscript in Arabic of the Katameros, the selections of the Bible intended to be read at Coptic church services throughout the year. Traditionally, the Katemeros is split into several volumes; this is the third volume, dedicated to Lent. It covers the full seven weeks of fasting and prayer, ending with Lazarus's Saturday, and including the Fast and Feast of Jonah.

Coptic Orthodox Christianity has an ancient history in the Arab world, founded in Alexandria as one of the earliest major Christian sects. Unlike in Greek Orthodoxy, in the Coptic church Arabic is one of the main liturgical languages (along with Coptic, Greek, and Tamazight). Today, Egypt and Sudan are the centre of Coptic Christianity, with a large diaspora throughout the world.
