Second edition; first printed in 1658 as "Effigies, ac Elogia quinquaginta Germanico-Romanorum Caesarum" (in-folio). "Georg Bouttats also engraved the fifty portraits of the rulers from Charlemagne to Leopold I, with his monogram 'G. B.', which Graesse did not resolve in his 'Tréssor de livres'. The earlier folio edition contains the same illustrations, except for the title page" (cf. Mayer).

The Trient Jesuit N. Avancini (1612-86) taught at Graz and Wien and was poet laureate to Emperor Leopold.

Slightly browned due to paper; the attractive illustrations in good, well-defined impressions. For the engraver G. Bouttats from Antwerp cf. Thieme/B. IV, 477.
