Later edition of this "classic treatise on prognosis based on Hippocrates' writings" (Eimas). Prosper Alpini (1553-1617) was personal physician to the Doge Andrea Doria; he spent three years in Egypt as a botanist and published the first scientific description of the coffee plant.

Title page has 1744 ms. ownership and Budapest library stamps.

II: Rare Neapolitan edition of Hippocrates' Aphorisms: Greek text and Latin translation with an extensive Latin commentary. Slight edge defects to title; contemp. ms. ownership.

Traces of bookplates on pastedowns; white-out on flyleaf. Slightly browned due to paper; noticeable worming to spine-ends.
