Only edition of this poem in ottava rima dedicated to Pope Clemens XIII. The appendix (p. 53 ff.) is a "Dissertazione sopra un' arca marmorea effigiata dagli antichi cristiani" in Ancona.

With beautiful decorations by the Turin engraver Angelo Ghizzardi (cf. Thieme/B. XIII, 573). The title vignette shows the arms of the Pope, who was to die, quite surprisingly, the following year.

Giuseppe Bartoli (1717-88) was "the antiquary of the King of Sardinia, [...] studied law at Padua, [...] but as he was more inclined toward philosophy and the arts he tutored in these, and was soon associated with Marchese Poleni, teacher of experimental physics, a post he quit after three years, to become professor of the arts in Turin in 1745" (cf. Jöcher/A. I, 1469).

A few Hebrew interspersions. Slightly browned throughout due to paper; binding somewhat rubbed (especially the gilt spine). A slight paper defect in the title page resulting from an erased stamp has been unobtrusively repaired with Japanese paper.
