Very rare original edition, containing 17 stories. The "excellent engravings" (cf. Seebaß) show rich, meticulous colour. Some bibliographies state 8 engravings, though the work is never encountered with more than 6 (cf. Seebaß, Wegehaupt).
Amalia Weise (1791-1858) , daughter of a Fehmarn physician, married the jurist F. H. Schoppe in 1811; he drowned swimming in the Elbe in 1829. In 1851 she emigrated to Schenectady, New York, where she died.
Binding rubbed; last quire loosened. Slight edge defects (not loss to text).
