- With several autogr. notes and underlinings by Eyzler.

The physician Carus (1789-1869), a friend of Goethe who was also a psychologist, natural scientist, philosopher, and (under the instruction of Caspar David Friedrich) a painter, made important contributions to the theory of the sub-conscious.

Decorative binding by Unrasch in Dresden, with his stamp on the back pastedown. Fine inscribed copy of this important and early work on the theory of the subconscious.
