Folio (222:328 mm). Engr. t. p., 3-132 (instead of 138), (8) pp. With 99 views and maps on 61 engr. plates (many folding) and 1 engraving in the text (p. 110). Contemp. vellum with ms. title to spine. Remains of ties.
Second edition of this rare Merian topography. "Superior paper; engravings in good, clear impressions" (cf. Eckardt). The index has the wording of the 3rd edition: "Nahmen Register der Stätte [...] so in diesem Anhang benennt werden".
Title engraving in contemporary colour; some brown- and fingerstaining. Wants text pages 65f., 113f., and 117f. (the latter preserved in a fragment); p. 9f. shows a large tear. Plates frequently somewhat wrinkled, with edge defects and tears of various lengths (usually concerning the blank margins only). Tears in the views of Aicha and Cham touching the image; view of Passau has large defect to one edge (touching the image); lower left corber of the view of Salzburg is torn away (no loss to image).
From the library of the Regensburg jurist Sebastian Seelmann, a member of Harsdörffer's "Pegnesian Order of Flowers" since 1668 (under the name of "Silvius"), with his autogr. note of ownership on the t. p . and the acquisition date "1704".
