Pretty, well-printed edition with an introduction by Jacques-André Naigeon, remarkable for its relief engravings. J.-L. Duplat (1757-1833) was granted a patent as well as a prize for his invention in 1810, but the process failed to gain general acceptance and this remains one of the few books to be illustrated in this novel manner.

Slight browning throughout; contemporary London bookseller's label "J. Brown", Fitzroy Square, on front pastedown; old handwritten ownership deleted from front free endpaper.
