S. M. Zwemer (1867-1952), the "Apostle to Islam", was a missionary at Basra, Bahrain, and at other locations in Arabia from 1891 to 1905. He was a member of the Arabian Mission (1890-1913) and served in Egypt from 1913 to 1929. He also travelled widely in Asia Minor and was elected a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society of London.
