[Chinese musicians]. Four drawings of female Chinese musicians playing musical instruments.

[China, late 19th or early 20th century].

Overall size 232 x 182 mm. Watercolour and gouache on rice-paper. Framed and glazed.

The drawings by an unidentified Chinese artist depict four variously seated female musicians playing the long lute (san-hsein), dulcimer (yang ch'in), transverse flute (ti-tzi) and, apparently, a form of straight trumpet.

Light discolouration to paper; a few small marks; very slight damp-staining to lower margin and tiny tear to leading edge of one drawing. An attractive set.
