To thank the writer and illustrator Ferdinand Calmettes for his "beautiful novel" Melle Volonté from 1891: "Avec ses affectueux remerciements pour l'envoi du beau roman 'Melle Volonté'".
Almost entirely forgotten today, Fernand Calmettes (1846-1919) published several, partly illustrated novels between 1890 and 1902.
On a printed visting card "François Coppée de l'Académie Française". Some browning and somewhat duststained.
