Haslinger, Hubert, Austrian artist (born 1886). Anatomie des Pferdes. Gezeichnet und geschrieben von Hub. Haslinger.

Überlingen am Bodensee, 1920.

Folio. 2 vols. German ms. on paper. (6), 207, (1) pp., 2 plates (1 folding). (102) pp., 1 plate. In red and black ink throughout, some headings in purple ink, numerous illustrations (mostly in ink, but some in pencil raised with white crayon). Both volumes signed and dated by the artist. Contemporary half cloth with ms. label to upper board.

Visually stunning, unpublished original manuscript of horse anatomy, drawn by a trained artist and containing an extensive discussion of the sketches in the author's dynamic hand. Hubert Haslinger, actually a sculptor based in Linz/Austria, created this encompassing work shortly after WWI. The work is subtitled, in full: "Praktisches Handbuch des Pferdes. Seine Proportionslehre, äussere Form und Fehler. Unterschiedsmerkmale der Rassen usw." (Practical Manual of the Horse. Its Proportions, Exterior Shape, and Faults. Distincive Traits of the Various Races etc.).

A unique document of equestrian dedication in excellent state of preservation.
