To an unidentified recipient in a "personal matter". Having been invited by M. Colonne for an audition of his works, Grieg had also received an invitation by M. Pleyel to play with the "elite of the conservatory's orchestra" at the same time. He then received a somewhat delayed and oblique, and, at last, declining answer from M. Colonne, so that he finally asks his correspondent, who knows Paris better than he does, whether he should accept Pleyel's offer or ask Lamoureux, or whether he should postpone his Paris concert by one more year.
