First edition; the best documentation of the famous Louvre's holdings and collections, here complete with all illustrations. A splendid copy including all the supplements, uniformly bound in gilt green period morocco for Charles Ferdinand d'Artois, duc de Berry (1778-1820) and his wife Marie-Caroline of Naples and Sicily (1798-1870), with their marriage arms (1816); their "Bibliothèque de Rosny" bookplate is on the pastedown.

A few plates misbound; occasional staining. Published in only 600 copies, "Musée Français" was dedicated to Napoleon Bonaparte. The supplement, published after the Emperor's abdication, was dedicated to the King.

A magnificent set of this great work in perfect state of preservation and from a noble library.
