[Alphabet primer]. Aabcchdef.

Leipzig, Friedrich Christian Dürr, [ca. 1770].

8vo. 16 unnumbered pp. Title-page printed in red and black. With 48 woodcuts on 8 pages. Illustrated original half calf.

Charmingly illustrated, early ABC-book for children with 48 woodcuts illustrating the alphabet, with "witty verses accompanying the woodcuts" (cf. Wegehaupt).

The strongly rubbed binding is illustrated with a drummer on a horse (lower cover) and a decorative alphabet (upper cover). Browned and somewhat fingerstained throughout; slight loss (ca. 22 x 6 mm) to lower margin of title-page (concerning 4 letters in printer’s name); altogether a fair copy in its original binding. Rare.

Wegehaupt 2 (with color illustration). Not in Seebaß.
