With fine illustrations of the King's famous studs as well as of the "Arabian stallion Bairakhtar" (p. 9) etc. W. R. Brown states that the Württemberg Royal stud was run from 1852 to 1871 by Baron Julius von Hügel, who purchased valuable stock from the Egyptian stud of Abbas Pasha, "thus raising it to the highest standard of excellence" (The Horse of the Desert, p. 161/166).
