First edition of the description of the festival and memorial service in Florence for Luis I, King of Spain (1707-24). Luis only ruled for eight months, dying of smallpox in Madrid on 31 August 1724. His father, King Philip V of Spain, who had abdicated in his favour, resumed the throne after his death. The obsequies "in absentia" took place in the Santa Maria Novella, the cathedral of Florence. The architect Girolamo Ticciati designed the catafalque and other festival architecture inside the church. The fine plates show a plan of the church, an elevation, two interior views, and a view of the catafalque. These works are often found bound together. OCLC locates several copies in North America: Getty, Harvard, NYPL, CCA, Columbia, Yale, and Pennsylvania.

Bookplate of Baron Horace de Landau (1824-1903), one of the most famous private collectors of the late 19th century (cf. H. P. Kraus, A rare book saga. NY 1978, p. 339). A little worming in the margins, but a clean and fresh copy.
