"Interesting literary-critical introduction by the author. The musical compositions are by Michael Jakobi, Heinrich Pape, and Rist. The 'Nebenbergelein' (857-920) contains poetic tributes from Justus Georg Schottel, Johann Michael Moscherosch, Johann Matthias Schneuber, Nicolaus Peucker, David Schirmer, Christian Brehme, Georg Neumark, Georg Greflinger, Sigmund von Birken, and others" (Jantz). The notes are in letterpress. "Rist's importance for the history of music lies in his influence as a poet of Protestant hymns, works for which he was capable of winning as well-reputed composers as he did for his secular poetry" (cf. Riemann).

Well preserved. Faded contemporary ownership of Henning von Eitzen on title page; later handwritten ownership of "v. Arnswaldt" on the flyleaf.
