An important work on European numismatics and one of the few of the time also to cover Jewish coinage. Composed by the German lawyer and historian Joachim (1713-67), a prominent figure at Halle University, this scholarly work discusses the history and nature of Greek, Jewish, Roman, Spanish, French, German, English and Russian numismatics while also describing the origins, the use and the production of coins. Dedicated to Carl Rudolph Baron of Danckelmann.

Contemporary notes on the post-revolutionary French currency in ink to lower flyleaf. Binding slightly rubbed, spine defective. Paper evenly browned throughout; flyleaf brownstained. From the library of the Viennese collector Werner Habel, with his signed and stamped ownership, dated 1977, to the pastedown.
